Karla Way-McPhail
Karla is the CEO of Undamine Industries and Coal Train she began her career in the Central Highlands Coal Basin in 1988 as an Educator, remaining in this district until 2008 and then relocating to the Rockhampton district. Karla has extensive geographic, demographic and industry based knowledge of the Resource Industry. In her role as an educator she has had an outstanding career and has been selected as a role model for Women in Leadership and Management in Education. Karla has been a member of a number of boards in developing State wide educational initiatives including the implementation of Prep, student assessment and review standards. In her capacity as the ‘Head of School’ for seven years at the Middlemount Community school she had the opportunity to oversee VET within the school community.
For the last five years Karla's focus has been as the Managing Director of Undamine Industries. Her role has been all encompassing including Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Training, Marketing, Resource Management, Contracts and Tender Management, Quality Management and Business Development. A combination of her thorough understanding of training, learning and outcomes along with her detailed knowledge of the Mining Industry Karla is able to bring to the platform a whole new level of excellence in the Resources Mining Sector.
Peter McPhail
Peter has been the Company Director of Undamine since its establishment in 2005. He has over 20 years experience in the underground mining sector throughout the Bowen Basin. Peter has worked in a variety of roles including,Explosion Risk Zone Controller, Longwall Co-ordinator, Training Co-ordinator, Project Supervisor and Supervision of Out bye services.
Peter is well respected in the black coal industry for his technical knowledge and outstanding safety record. Peter is a focused and motivated leader with as strong track record of success as an operational manager. He possesses highly developed skills in negotiation, consultation and problem solving skills; he is flexible and adaptable to changing work environments.
Shane Jackson
Shane has been a Company Director of Undamine since its establishment in 2005.He has in excess of 15 years experience in the Underground mining sector. During this time Shane has worked in a variety of roles including, Apprentice Engineering trades Person, Acting Longwall Mechanical Coordinator, Leading Hand Fitter, Panel Tradesperson/Operator,Longwall Service Engineer, Underground Fitter and Longwall Production Coordinator / Shift Manager.
Shane’s technical competence is complimented by his leadership skills in strategic planning and understanding cost management principals. Shane has strong communication skills that allow him to successfully work and manage across all sectors.

Administration Support Services Team:
Andrea Smith
Andrea is our accountant and possesses a Bachelor of Commerce and has a number of years experience in public accounting. Andrea manages all financial and accounting aspects of the business. Her role involves monthly reporting, maintenance of Quickbooks, accounts payable, taxation compliance and reporting.
Taitum Forrest
Taitum is a senior member the Business Administration Team managing the majority of administrative duties including human resource management, payroll, invoicing, accommodation, long service leave, inductions and training records. Taitum has completed her Certificate III in Business Administration. Taitum continues to do further study in the administration field including document and quality control, long service leave and human resources.
Sarah Smith
Sarah is a trainee on the verge of completing her Certificate III in Business Administration. Sarah is responsible for managing the front of office and all incoming correspondence. Sarah controls and manages stock alongside the coordination of marketing products and development.
